Lina and Antonio, two volunteers of the "Help the Children" Foundation have just sent us news regarding their project in Ethiopia:
"The economic situation in Zaimene is still really hard: it's an extremely poor area which lack of drinkable water and where most men must leave their families in order to find a job somewhere else.
It's in this difficult situation that the Zaimene Nursery School, supported by the Foundation, is trying to help the families by offering their children not only an education but also a safe environment where they can grow up and find sustenance.
Among the children who have been attending the school last year, 64 are now attending primary school and now for the new academic year, considering new and old pupils, there are 178 children who are educated according to the Montessori method.
The teachers and the volunteers try not only to teach them Amharic, in order to train them for primary school, but they also work to help the integration among children of different origin and take care of them also in the many cases of malnutrition."
Silvia and Francesca, two other volunteers, who visited the project last March sent us some pictures of the children at school and in Zaimene.
